In between waiting for God to answer…
Above all the daily tasks you must do…
Alongside each emotion that surfaces…
Behind the curtain of your busyness…
In front of each step you take…
Always present; never hidden is the simplicity God places in our lives. Are you thankful for that? It is never Faith that is blind, rather we are.
We miss the simple things because we have been taught to believe that the extraordinary things such as fame, wealth, and luxury fulfill us more than the ordinary ones. But, we’ve been lied to. The ordinary as we’ve been taught such as a child’s laughter, sunsets and feeling the wind on your face IS really the extraordinary, not the other way around.
If you continue to chase the lie, you’re going to miss it. Start following the truth in thankfulness and watch what God shows you. It’s surreal.
A simple thing I am thankful for (Tuesday): The warmth of the sun
Thank you, Father, for warming my soul from the rays of the risen sun. Thank you for the nudge of your perfect Love that speaks uniquely to my heart. It made me smile?. Love you back!
A simple thing to be thankful for (Wednesday): Blasting my favorite song on the way to an early meeting.
We have the choice to either let stress dominate us or let peace. When we focus on the small blessings that surround us, we are guided in making the right choice.
Simple things I am thankful for (Thursday): Parks with tables and benches
When our minds are spinning with thoughts, I’m thankful I have parks to go to. They don’t cost a thing besides a few minutes of our time we typically spend on our everyday tasks. It’s worth the peace of mind and thankfulness.
A simple thing I am thankful for (Friday): The time I had in my favorite store and my first Jesus shirt as a memory.
There is a season for everything, so be thankful for the time you are given. You never know when the season will change course, and when it does; you’ll want to have some memorabilia you can cherish.
Simple things I’m thankful for (Saturday): Teens singing their hearts out and having small things of their own they are thankful for.
What a privilege it is to be a part of a youth ministry powered by the Love for God. Witnessing these teens reflect that Love onto each other is a restoration of Hope for our younger generations. The laughter, the acceptance, the support is simply beautiful.
A simple thing I’m thankful for (Sunday): Being able to play with my senior kitty after a long weekend.
Pets add such a joy to our lives. My cat is sixteen, so the days when she is playful are even more treasurable.
The simple things in our lives are EVERYWHERE! The only reason we miss them is either because we are focused too much on our busyness or we are taking them for granted, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
The big things certainly get our attention, but in truth, they are not big. They are simply bonuses. It’s the small things we ought to notice because those are the ones we end up missing the most. They end up shaping us the most. Don’t overlook them while searching for the bigger things because they ARE the bigger things.
